Crocodile Tears
1.
Words and metaphors synonyms and rhyme
Expelled from a less than perfect heart
Are late expressions of a slowing man
These crocodile tears of an ancient upstart.

2.
Caparisoned a galleon leaves an eastern port
Questing west ; cleaving the blue
Each day ; to night’s near horizon.
Setting forth at dawn seeking lost gold…anew

3.
Ha! Petulant Persephone pert pretty poseur
It’s Life not Love; striking green fire
Off its rocky bones buried Hades deep
Beneath – in very earthy geology- not desire.
4.
Life awake is an imperious verdant passion.
Arisen from asleep – a zombie giant
Its sullen decomposing body arches
To birth from dark moist fecundity a plant.
5.
Spring demarcates winter’s sere boundary.
Nurtured well in Gaia’s foul womb
Periwinkle leaps the cemetery fence.
Living limbs reaching out from the tomb.
6.
Life doesn’t choose the worthy over a weed
Counted as equals in its bright gaze
Each a conduit for that lively vigour
The warp and weft in the fabric of our days.
7.
It’s still cold and still…there is a quiet hum
From buried soon to be minted green
Held defiantly unsheathed its spear.
A grubby waif demands to be seen…is seen.

8.
Thoughtless winter scours this fleshy shore
A flawed body falling to flooding time
And death stands as proof we had Life
Our sacrifice counts as Being’s proper tithe
RAIN
9.
And then it rains with Home not in sight
So better shelter now to wait it out
Arriving wet always spoils the look
And slow still gets there quite fast enough
10.
The precious soul sees what it needs to see
You quietly came without your crowd
Without an answer from a silent door
Wet finger prints shouting gone out loud!
11.
Hendeca is not a chicken’s pecker clatter
Nor a tally of Joseph’s brotherly bunch
One one of a kind it’s a very fine prime
And also X plus I is a fine time for brunch.
